New market and application of Natural Zeolite from Cuba

New market of Natural Zeolite

Cuba has exported more than 350 tons of natural zeolite to Brazil so far this year, surpassing last year’s total exports by 20 tons.

The head of sales of the extraction and processing plant in the central Cuban province of Villa Clara, Miguel Diaz, told ACN news agency that business prospects abroad are good in order to maintain transactions.

Twenty-four tons were also sold to Italy, as the government continues to try to open a market for this useful mineral in Europe and, in general, to increase the offer of zeolite for multiple uses.

Application of Natural Zeolite

The processing plant, part of the Central Enterprise for Geology and Mining, also provides zeolite to the poultry industry in the province of Cienfuegos, to the citrus complex of Jaguey Grande in the province of Matanzas and has begun to deliver small amounts to local producers in the province of Villa Clara.

However, the use of zeolite in Cuban agriculture could be much more widespread with national production slated to surpass 15,000 tons in 2008.

The Tasajera-piojillo zeolite deposit is 25-kilometers long; of which only 0.8 km have been studied for exploitation, guaranteeing an abundance of this mineral for a long time to come.
